This was originally written as a post for my LJ page as a response to some rather hurtful and hateful posts made to my fb wall (there are reasons for the change in forum that are not pertinent to this post). A friend requested that I reblog this to my tumblr. Generally, I reserve my tumblr account for ridiculous fangirl obsessions but it was a reasonable request. 

I generally avoid political and socioeconomically divisive topics when posting on my various social media forums. I recognize that my friends, family, and business associations have widely different backgrounds and experiences that lead to widely different belief structures. I happen to find this fantastic; I love discussing varying view points. This is how we grow; by encountering other viewpoints and philosophies and keeping the good parts. It’s okay if we disagree on what, exactly, the “good parts” might entail.
